My internet explorer won't load, maybe a problem with G-mail?

Question

My homepage for internet explorer is gmail. But whenever I try to use the internet, my computer completely freezes and I have to restart it. But it does the same thing each time.

When I opened Firefox, it worked fine. But when I tried to get to g-mail on firefox it wouldn't load (but it didn't freeze.)

Also, my computer's been telling me that it's blocking something called svchost? What's that?

Pleeeease help.

have recently had very similar problem i ran a virus scan and sbybot and found thAT i have a virus called virtumonde.exe . it seems to get in through internet explorer. it can be removed but it is difficult. spybot can't remove it all,nor can norton unless you want to send them a wad of money. i no longer use internet explorer i use flock so far so good

i read that this virus is really gettin around right now

maybe your computer has some virises, check it out, get it fixed or ( i hate to say this) you might need to get a new computer, i would get mac if i were you cuz mac neveer carries any verises and it never craches down, i hear its very good, and you can get an old one and it would be just as good as the one you have now! hope i helped! bye (:

1) This is a good time to start using Firefox exclusively.  (It's a better browser.)

2) Check with G-Mail (there has to be some contact information) to see whether they have a problem, or can fix yours.

3) svchost is part of Windows.  It's blocking something that has to do with svchost - probably a virus.  Clean it, take it to a knowledgeable friend, take it to a good computer shop.  At very worst, Windows has to be reinstalled.  You don't need a new computer.
