My internet is very slow?

The internet on my laptop has slowed down somewhat lately. I have checked the HD and there is plenty of free space. I have run spybot and it has found nothing. I use the same wireless rooter for my PC and have no problems. The signal on my laptop is excellent. Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it? Thank you!

  1. The key thing you said is that your router is Wireless. Make sure it has a password on it because your neighbors can be using it for free Internet access.

Put a password on it that is easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else. Make sure it is WPA (not WEP). Then nobody else can get on it and your speeds should resume to normal.

  2. Try cleaning out your cache:

    1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

    2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.

    3. On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.

    4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.

    5. Click OK.

  3. either you have a resource problem or u have too much junk in your temp folder...when using the net, alt ctrl del into task manager and check your cpu usage and memory on the performance tab...make sure paged mem is belowe total...and threads should be below 1000...if the cpu spikes, its a resource problem
