  1. did you reinstall the drivers , such as your network card , sound , video and such

  2. For this we will need a lot more information. I am assuming that road runner is cable internet, so I need to know the modem/router type, what version of windows you are using, what error you get when you try to access the internet and if you could go to (in windows XP) start>run>cmd>type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter and give us that information. While you're there type in "ping www.google.com" and tell us those results as well...

This will help to narrow down what the problem is.

    RE:re: hey

Ok... I still need to know the modem type (it should have a name on the top somewhere) and what the lights are doing (blinking/red, etc)... Also, when you did Start>CMD>ipconfig, what was the IP address?

You will either see 192.168.1.1 or some similar variation or 169.100.1.1 or some variation.

The 169 means that your computer is not communicating with the modem, so it's the NIC card.

192 means it's routing to the modem and you will need then to try 'ping 192.168.1.1', which should hopefully be successful. If it's not then your antivirus or firewall is blocking the connection.

If pinging 192.168.1.1 is successful then your router/modem is not connecting properly, and you should be able to tell by what lights are on/flashing/red, etc....
