My ipod broke, what should I do next?

I have a 30GB video ipod, and got it on my 13th birthday, which was 2.5 years ago (no warranty). There's something wrong with my headphone jack, so I can only hear out of one side of my headphones, no matter which headphones I use. I have about $300 saved up for no particular purpose, and would be willing to spend it on an mp3 player, as i love listening to music. However, I have many options to weigh. I realize that I could pay a fee to mend my headphone jack, but I take into consideration that my ipod may completely break soon since i've had it for so long. Based on recent events (my headphone jack problem, and my ipod freezing, and my songs being erased), i've come to the conclusion that I completely hate apple products, and would like to invest in something that isn't designed to break. So, my question is should I: a) pay the fee to fix the problem, b) buy a new ipod, c) buy a different music player (if so, which one? i've heard zunes are nice...), d) other.

  1. another ipod here is the link to choose:

  2. I think you should get a new one. I would suggest the iPod Nano 3rd Generation. (how many gigs is obviously up to you).

  3. A 30gb ipod is really cool. If I were you Id go to the store and check out the zunes bc they are awesome.

  4. Um thats a little stupid cuz ive had my ipod forever and it hasnt broke! Its just your ipod! That like never happens to anyones ipods! No need to hate apple products! Just buy a nice new ipod cuz theyre the best quality!

  5. I wouldn't go buy a new one until you're completely sure you can fix it.

Find your local Apple store (or a store that repairs broken players) and explain your problem.

As for music players, try a recent model of a Sandisk product. I have an older model and my brother has a newer model that somehow doesn't work. (I'm assuming it just broke when it was made)

But other than that, it's a great product and I enjoy it. I gave it up to my other brother as I have an iPod that works just as good.

  6. Just get a new iPod, but wait until september because apple always updates their iPod lines in September. I still think that iPods are some of  the best MP3 players on the market. I wouldn't get Zune, they aren't that great for a few reasons. The Zune Marketplace has less than half the content of iTunes, and iPods are compatible with more formats than Zunes. With $300 you can get an 80GB iPod Classic($249) or an 8GB iPod Touch($299)

And BTW I've had my 5.5G 30GB video iPod for almost 2 years and haven't had a single problem with it. Maybe you just got a bum unit.
