My ipod froze what can I do to fix it?

I plugged it into the computer ( Itunes was already installed) and it froze I unplugged it and the backlight went back on and now it's frozen with the backlight on and none of the buttons work. I tried the hold button and everything it just won't work please help me as it is only about 2 years old

Hold down Menu button and select button at the same time for 6 seconds

I also shake mine when it's acting up like that
