idk how manyl times this happend to my 2nd gen nano

try using a different usb port or restartin ur comp

if that dosent work put ur ipod into disk mode

and connect it to ur comp

maybe the USB port where you are inserting your cable of the i-pod is not working properly or the software component of your i-pod is corrupt. contact the company of the i-pod to get it done.
