My ipod has stopped importing cds automatically help!

my ipod does not import cds automatically anymore ,i have changed nothing but i put a cd in and no prompt comes up ,but it lets me import manually ,the long way .Please help i am lost without it thankyou .

the ipod is the player it does not have a CD slot,

you're talking about itunes! on your computer.

download the latest version of itunes and restart and then go to your pref and in advanced select your CD pref (change them to something else save then reopen pref and correct them) also you can check your import settings are using either MP3 or AAC (best quality).

Also ensure you have selected let itunes manage my music for me and from ADVANCED menu select consolidate library

ALSO remember its itunes that's the MASTER not the ipod (that's just a player). NEVER ever touch the contents of your itunes folder otherwise you Can lose music. YES back it up but don't alter its contents at all! that's where problems come from
