  1. battery with lightning means "charging"... if that is displayed while connected to the comp, but dies immediately after disconnecting, you might need a new battery.

Also, try not to "pull it out" of the comp suddenly, but always stop the device first - via iTunes or via the little icon on system tray - disconnect USB divice. Otherwise you MIGHT burn both - the iPod and your USB port. It does NOT HAVE to happen a thousand times, but MIGHT the thousand and one.. :-)

    Good luck

  2. if this is the first time you have used your ipod then thats completely normal

the first time that you turn on any ipod the little battery sybol with the lightning bolt will pop up you will need to leave it for a few hours to charge and then it should turn on or just stop so you can then turn it on.

    oh and the comment...

*never jailbreak or download illegal songs for your ipod. it voids your warranty and will give your computer viruses.*

is wrong, i have a jailbroken ipod touch and its great, it took a while to get it all sorted but when it is its like an i-everything lol and it wont cause any problems regarding your warranty because its easy enough to get restored manually

  3. Sounds like you need a new battery. You can get one for cheap at

  4. you need to restore it.

to do that, go to your ipods summary (right under the itunes stire when you plug it in)

and on the right hand side, click on restore.

    good luck!

and if you have any other questions about your iPod/Mac/iTunes, feel free to email me.

  5. ...

You can't burn you iPod like the other person said.

The lightning bolt means it is charging. The outlet plug means it is done charging. After many charge cycles, the battery life will drop. (Typically after about 500 charges).
