My ipod isn't working?

I went to wisconsin for vacation and on my way there my ipod stopped working. the album covers are scratchy and the songs aren't playing. Now I'm back home and its the same way. I tried plugging it back into my computer but it didn't work. please help me!!

have you held down the menu and middle button.

if that doesn't work, you might have to plugg it in to the computer and restore it - it deletes everything off the ipod but usually fixes it
