My ipod nano won't charge or turn on ?

I have a hand me down ipod nano (that is a number of years old) that had a crappy battery to begin with (less than an hour of play when fully charged)

I bought a plug in the wall charger but last week when I plugged it in the "charging" icon never came on and it wouldn't turn on either. Usually when its dead it will turn on for a second and then turn off again. I left it plugged into the wall for days and checked on it everyday but nothing changed.

I know I have to get a new battery but I don't want to waste money on that if I'm going to have to buy a new ipod anyhow.

  1. Try holding in the Menu button and the center button at the same time for a few seconds. The same thing happened to mine, and it responded. Then, if the Apple icon comes up, toggle the lock switch, then push the on button. Hope it works.
