Question:

My ipod nano won't turn on

Okay, so I got my first generation ipod, I got it new a long time ago, and it worked like a charm.

Then, like a week ago, I got a sony walkman, and my ipod nano had very low batter and I left it there for about five or six days. Then I decided to recharge it today. I turned it on, and I saw the ipod fully functional except the battery was very low, I plugged it into my computer and it was good.

But then my computer like didn't recognize it like always, cuz I always had to plug it in two times. But this time, it didn't turn on (my ipod), and then I plugged it in, I tried all the lil tricks in the book, and so on.

So what should I do now? Do you think my ipod battery is fried? Or do you think I just need to leave it not charging for 24 hours and then try it again?

  1. My personal experience is that the batteries on Ipods die eventually even if you take proper care of them.  Most people I know seem to have gotten a year or two out of the battery before it died.

If you've had it less than a year, it should still be covered by warranty (I don't know if Apple's warranty covers the battery, but I know some stores' extended service agreements do).  Since you got them when it first came out though it may not be covered by warranty... it's still something you should check.  Last I heard it was like $50 or so to replace the battery (evidentally you have to send it to Apple to do it properly).
