  1. Yes there will be a deductible AND this will be on your CLUE report (claims record) for five years AND it will raise your premium. It's not worth it at all, just buy a new coat.

  2. Maybe.  Most of the time, "contents" is insured on a named perils basis.  Now, THEFT happens to be a commonly covered peril, but some policies limit the theft coverage to the house.

Also, most of the time, when a jacket is "stolen", it's because you left it on an airplane, or in the restroom.  If it was a real theft - ie, someone broke into the hotel room and stole it, AND, you filed a police report on it, you're likely to recover, IF your policy has off premises theft coverage, AND the jacket is higher than your deductible.

    Yes, the deductible would apply.

I think it's silly to file the claim, though - in most states, two claims of ANY kind within three years will allow an insurer to cancel your policy.

  3. Yes you can claim, and there will probably be a deductable...ask your agent.

  4. Yes you can claim it...how much is your deduc? Might as well buy another jacket yourself and save your policy for a huge loss.
