I have a 96 jeep Cherokee 2wd, I can get her to start but she backfires all over the place. I can barley get her down the road and even then i've gotta play with the accelerator constantly and i can only go about 5 or 10 mph. I've replaced the ECM, given her a full tune up, and i got nothing, anybody got any ideas

  1. it does sound like the timing. if the timings off, it throws the whole motor off, if it even starts at all. did somebody mess with your distributor? or the timing belt could be going or a tooth missing and it jumped time...i'd check into the timing issue first. or! i just thought of something else, did you happen to have your spark plug wires replaced then the trouble started?  if they didnt put them back on in the exact order they came off....motor problems. it could also backfire and run like c**p.

  2. If you're sensors are fine, check the timing on it. If the timing is off it will do exactly that.

  3. my dad's 99 cherokee did that a while back. he said it was something about the O2 sensors? he got them replaced and now it works fine again

  4. It won't go??  GET IT THE F**K OUT OF THERE PUSH IT.
