My jet pump switches on and off quickly, and the pressure is down to 30psi I could use some help fixin the job

  1. Billruss had some good suggestions, but here is another one: check for any leaking on the discharge side of the pump.

It could be the pressure tank but if you've been using the well it's more likely you've got a hole in the pipe going down into the well or one of the fittings is sucking air.If there is a valve after the pump and before the pressure tank,close it half way or so.See if that slows down the pulsing action of the pump.If it does then your getting air into the suction side somewhere. Check the fittings first.Tighten the clamps and make sure none of them are broken.I assume you've made sure the pump is primed and there is enough water in the well to keep the pump full.One other thing it could be is the foot valve on the bottom of the pipe that is down in the well.It's actually a check valve and if it's not working right you'll keep losing your prime.

  3. sounds like the pressure tank has a problem. If it's old, your air bubble may be gone and you have to pump some air into it. If it's a newer one with a membrane, the membrane may be broken.
