My job doesn't start until Oct 8th?

And I have classes twice a week...how should I keep myself occupied until then without having to make any commitments?

Try signing up for a temp agency.  That way you can pick and choose your assignments.  Look in the phone book under employment agencies.

Try volunteering, or take up a sport.
