My johnny jump up flowers are starting to wilt over.

is it a good idea to trim them down a bit?.

  1. Johnny Jump Ups are kind of a cross between pansies and Violas. Violas are perennials. Pansies are cool seson annuals. Johnny Jump Ups are like Pansies with small Viola flowers. Generally they tend to fizzle out in the heat. Where I am at they usually finish about May. Often reseed themselves though.

    If you are in a much cooler climate, you can try cutting them back. If they recover, fine. If not, so be it.

  2. they need lots of water in the heat and little water when temps are cool so make sure that they get the right amount
