My jvc gr-fx16ek camcorder will not record pictures but blabk screen, even with lens cap off. Can anyone help?

A blank screen appears on the viewer and when i record, it only records the blank screen. The lens cap keeps on flashing, even when it is not on and i have no effects on what so ever. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Please let me know.

This is a known CCD issue with many JVC camcorders - the good news is that JVC will repair the affected camcorders at no cost even it the warranty had expired.  Here's the link to the JVC consumer notice:
