  1. I agree about breaking it in, but even then it isn't a great help, they will still get a little noisy when moving around a lot.

I don't really use satin belts, I stick to cottons ones, especially for everyday practice. Maybe for a ceremony, or if I was doing a kata demo or something... but pretty much every day wear, I use a cotton belt.

The only Satin belts I have, I have for show hanging on my walls next to the swords and such. (I have a really nice embroidered ones for this purpose). I also have a really nice cotton embroidered one I use for demonstrations and the like because I pretty much dislike wearing the satin belts for the rubbing noise, and because I normally am doing some sort of grappling and the Satin belts are a lot flimsier, plus can get to be a pain to untie after a lot of belt grapping type of stuff.

They look cool, but they are more for looks than function.

    Just my opinion.

  2. I suggest wearing it often. You have to break it in so any wear and tear on it will help.

Tying tight knots up and down it, rolling it up, jumping rope with it, all of these will help to break it in.

Who wants a shiny new black belt anyways?!

  3. break it in
