I cleaned underneath so the coils are clear of dirt. I also check teh black bowl looking thing in the back where the copper tubes run to and before I cleaned it, the bowl was hot. Even on the max setting I am almost in the danger zone.

  1. If you turn the unit on it's side, the oil runs out of the compressor to other places in the system.  This is not good, as it will not let the unit cool properly, and it could cause damage to try and run it.

Let it rest for a couple of hours, turned off, before you turn it back on.

BTW - you didn't hear any hissing sounds when you cleaned the coils,,,,did you?

  2. you are suppose to let the fridge "rest" for an hour or so before you plug it back in...something to do with the coolant.

  3. when you transport on the side you are suppose to set it up and leave it unplugged for 24 hrs then plug it in

  4. The bowl looking thing is the compressor and it will be hot.It was off on overload because it couldn't start without proper oil in the crankcase.

If she was on her side, let her sit upright for several hours or overnight to allow the oil to drain by gravity back to the crankcase where it belongs

Then plug her back in, she'll start up and be fine.

Keep that cold control setting on 5 untill she settles out.

  5. Why not call Sears ? their appliance department may tell you what has to be done. Both answers prior to this have merit so ask the question.
