when i put my key into the lock on the outside (driver side) it goes in but won't turn. the passenger side works fine and it looks like the key goes in about the same on both sides.

is something broken?

if it matters it's a mazda b3000 truck with no power locks.

  1. Shoot some WD-40 in there and see if that loosens it up. If that doesn't work, you should try and get it fixed at your local lock-shop.

  2. Got to an auto parts store and get some key lock lubricator.  I forgot the name but it will work.  Had the same problem on a Mazda 626 and sprayed it in and it worked.  Over time the grease inside the lock get contaminated with dirt and grit and gets caught up in the tumblers.

  3. Sounds like a damaged tumbler or at least one that is binding try some graphite ot teflon based lube squirted in the cylinder first. then run the key in and out several times. If this works great if not call a lock smith and have them repair the cylinder. Also if you have two keys try the other key maybe one is warn out.
