  1. Not  a good idea because it will put teachers out of a job and the kids will not develop any social skills

  2. DONT! trust me, coming from an online schooled child. Im 15 and i get so bored and lonely. it's harder to keep up with the work because teachers can't motivate you by like saying "if you dont do this you will have detention" so its really easy to procrastinate on things. Im totally going back to public school next year because i have no social life. Homeschooling should be for children that aren't able to go to public school.

  3. I think it depends on their age and maturity. Little kids 1st thur 8th grade need to go to school in a classroom. They usually love it and the learn so much about how to interact with others. Once in high school I think online school is better, high school has so much c**p going on. I live in CA and the effort has been made to make the earlier grades better. The high school is a mess. I think the future is learning how to work effectively in an online enviroment. The home program makes the kids "own" getting their work done. They need to have some outside activity. Sports, job, church. Some social outlet. They get to enjoy these social activities more when they are not tied to the school.  The ideal situation is an online school which allows the student to come in a few days a week. Best of both worlds.

  4. My son went to private school (Christian School) his entire life.  I liked it because it kept out the public school c**p--and he was around other kids---but--some people there were WAY to strict(Yes -I realize it was a Christian School and we are Christian--but more liberal than anyone there)  anyway--it would have been nice to have that alternative (here you had to go to public school first like your doing)    Just watch them and make sure they truly are learning and doing there work.

And yes--there are other ways besides public school for socializing--they are not kept in doors all the time and locked away!!  They still have friends!

  5. Omigosh, when will people finally understand that socialization is not an issue for homeschooled kids?  My kids get far more socialization (with varying age groups) than they ever did in school.  If your situation makes you capable of homeschooling, by all means, go for it!  We love it.  My kids are always interested because they get to choose what they want to learn.  They're all at least one to two grade levels ahead.  We only school four mornings a week, so our afternoons are for field trips, outings, play meetings, sports, arts, nature, volunteering and classes.  I suppose if they felt left out, socially, I could swear at them, beat on them, give them wedgies, shove them in puddles, spit on them, call them names, tease them, make them cry and stuff them in lockers.  That's about the level of "socialization" they were getting in school.

  6. cool, but their eyes might hurt:(

  7. ? Why, kids need social life, and if they dont get it when they are young they wont know how to handle it , its a horrible I Idea, social life is 1/2 of your life

  8. I hope that online schooling is good because my kids were just accepted for SC online school for next year and we are going to try it

  9. Online schooling works great for some families.  The thing to remember about online public schooling is that your kids will still be public school students, and you will be under the jurisdiction of your school district.
