so they know what they are doing. Their excuse always is, oh I'm in bed now, I always let them see me doing mine, and I'm so fussy with mine too, I don't know why they are like this, any tips?

  1. If they say "oh, i'm in bed now" then make them get back up and brush them. Trust me, you want them to get into a good habit now. My friend's sister is married to a 25 year old guy that has to be reminded to brush his teeth EVERYDAY and complains when she makes him. It's ridiculous.

  2. From a Mom you could tell them what I told my two kids when they were that age. You choose. Either you brush or I brush them for you. I would even go so far as to watch them to make sure they were getting their teeth clean. Both of my kids today have terrific dental hygiene.

They didn't want me to brush their teeth but I was serious and they knew I was.

  3. As a parent it is your JOB to MAKE them see the value in taking care of their teeth, if they want them to last and be decay-free,

You need to make it an imperitive that they brush and floss before bedtime as at nighttime is the MOST important time of day to brush as when you go to sleep, your mouth is closed, there is no eating, or drinking and so the bacteria are able to thrive in the warm, moist enviroment that has a food source....that is when you would get DECAY (CAVITIES)...this is a non-negotiable issue...and you have to check that they have brushed until they get into the habit.
