  1. Tomcat is on the right track here. Eyeball the circulation fan first and then the compressor fan. And as you are looking around the compressor (be wary of the fan blades) note the lines coming out of it. One should be hot and the other (larger of the two) should be cold. If it's only cool then it might be a circulation issue determined by fan motor function. A piece of insulation could be caught in the blades of the fan that draws air across the compressor area. It happens when panels are put back or a brush used without an eye on that detail.

Another is a defrost cycle sensor is bad (you have to get at it behind the interior panels of the freezer compartment). There's also a timer that's hooked up to it that could be bad.

And of course the thermostat. These have a wire attached to a piece that looks alot like a thermocouple that's stuck near the flame of a heating appliance. The purpose is similar. And as frequently as a thermocouple goes out on heaters, it happens (on refers) that it more often occurs when the line that attaches it to the control gets knocked or bent. But it still can go bad by attrition.

If you can't get an appliance repair guy to look at it, you might also try DIY.com repair guru if you can limp by for a bit. But here's some ideas to run with.

  2. Is the freezer working normally?  When you open the freezer door can you hear the freezer fan running?  Does it have a fan at the bottom of the fridge that cools the condensor coils? Is it running?

  3. How old is it?? does the freezer still work?? will it get colder if the k**b is turned or buttons pushed???

Maybe call Kitchen Aid and ask them what to do as well!!! Find out if any of the models that you have had any problems or recalls!!!

If nothing works then I guess you go shopping for a new frig with your stimules check!!!!

  4. Could be your thermostat need to be replaced.
