She's 7 months old and is normal and healthy and weighs the right amount for her age. Its just that she asks for food almost ALL the time. She finished about half the can for breakfast and eats about 3 cans per day. I cant say no to her because she looks like she's really hungry. If i say no she eats a little bit of dry food but sits infront of her bowl until I put food in there. Should I give it to her? I mean she's healthy and nothings wrong with her.

  1. There are different sizes of canned cat food, and you don't say which size your kitten is eating.  If she's eating the large ( 5.5 oz) size, then she must not be getting the nourishment from it that she needs.

Until she's AT LEAST ONE YEAR OLD, she needs to be eating KITTEN FOOD.  You can get that in the cans, too!  I've always fed my kittens Science Diet DRY KITTEN food, and only give them meat for a treat!

Hope you don't make your kitten overweight.  It's time (if you haven't done it already) to have her spayed, before she starts wanting to go outside and find a "boyfriend".  :-)

    Hope this helps........Good luck.

  2. I would just give her the food, that's what i did. But i would start to mix some dry food into the wet food so that she will learn to eat the dry food. Now my cat loves to eat the dry food and its good for her. once in a while i give her wet food, that's what i think you should do.

  3. I used to use Science Diet  for years, and KEPT on doing it blindly too, SOOO STUPID!! All I have read and learned over the past few years Science Diet  has really gone DOWN HILL!! TOO MUCH grain/fillers, I would do some research if you feed dry, and keep up the can food!!! GOOD LUCK!

  4. Kittens eat more then adults and if she wants more, give her more.

Im glad you are feeding canned foods and wish you would not feed dry.

  5. First make sure your feeding her a good quality wet food and not anything bought at a grocery store like friskies or whiskers. Those have lots of fillers so she will eat more plus are bad for her. After you make sure your feeding her a good food check the label to make sure it's the right amount. They should tell you how many cans she should get for her weight. It is very important to stick by this.

The vets I work with say it is actually good to feed some wet food as it has a higher moisture content. Ideally some wet and dry is the best. That way the dry food is helping with dental health. If she just waits for the wet try mixing the two together. Also please make sure you checked a fecal sample since getting her. Kittens generally come with worms and most shelters don't check for them. While they do deworm it doesn't mean it's for all the types of worms and that it got rid of all of them.
