  1. Infections from the bacteria in her mouth could end up killing her.

Could you get the collar on her to prevent her death?

  2. If you don't put the cone on she is in danger of ripping open her stitches with her teeth and bleeding to death. I would try anything possible to get it on her. Although we know the stitches are good the kitten will respond as if she has a splinter and try anything to pull them out. I've found with my cat getting someone to hold her feet helps as they can't struggle as much. I hope everything works out for you and the little one :)

  3. l*****g isn't all that bad, and kittens heal amazingly fast.  There are two sets of stitches, the inner ones, and you are seeing the outer stitches.  If she starts to tug, it will probably hurt and she will stop.  If it doesn't hurt, then it is probably all healed anyway, and that would be after several days.  Keep an eye on the area, and if you see any oozing or seepage, notify your vet.  Normally, all sorts of follow up care is included with the spay costs.  Kittens have been spayed for time eternal, and l*****g their stitches for the same time span.  Only if you see a problem is there a worry, and there rarely is.

My kitten even removed her stitches the night before she was to get them removed at the vet.

  4. If you really cannot manage to get the cone on, ask someone to help or take her back to the vet. Promise you, you will save yourself a lot of money, time and agony. If they pull the stitches it is surgery all over again. My one dog did that without me noticing it right away. After that insident I put a cone on whether they like it or not when there is stitches involved.

  5. Why cant you get a cone on her head?

You are stronger than her...she will struggle and scratch, but remember...you are not hurting her...and it is for her own good.

Just hold her down, forcefully but not hurting her, and put the cone on over her neck.

It is for her own good.

  6. keep a really sharp eye on her, kittens llove to pull out their stitches, we had one who came into the clinic, who was realy active and pulled out her inner stitches and the outer stitches and the kittens organs and guts were all coming out... it was gross!  so keep a really close eye on her, nudge her whenever she starts l*****g...

i know its hard always watching her, my rabbit did the same thing when she got spayed..

    Good Luck!!

  7. it's natural that she'd l**k her wound, just keep an eye on her, i think she'd play up more with a cone round her neck, she'd feel like she was caught in something, and go crazy.

  8. Instead of a cone to go around her head that will make it difficult to eat, drink and use the litter box, try the top of an old sock.

Get an old tube sock, preferably white and cut it about 4 inches from the top or however big to cover the incision with extra coverage on either end.  Slip this on kitten's abdomen and she will not be able to get to the stitches.  The sock bandage will be snug enough that she will not easily be able to get to the stitches, but not tight enough to cause her any discomfort.

Put a fresh sock bandage on her daily for the next several days.  Where the incision is fresh, it may ooze and you don't want it to become infected.

After several days, the incision should have gotten a good start on healing and if she messes with/licks it, it should not be a problem.

    Purrs to you and kitten.

  9. its not bad for her to l**k her wounds. that's normal.
