My cat got her spayed 2 days ago and her stitch opened up a little bit, so i had to take her to the vet and have them fix her up again. But they didn't stitch her back. instead they just skin glued her back and now she got a swelling where she got her surgery. Now. How long is this going to last. There is no redness, no leakage, no puss, just a bubbly thingy. ?? And I'm really worried about her. I just adopted her for the pound. this is my first pet and i don't know what to do.*

  1. You might wont to call your vet back and let them know about the bulge that is there because her insides night be forcing their way through the opening and it will only get worse and her little bulge could get bigger and cause problems later on in the cats life.

  2. The incisions do look terrible in the beginning and if there's not discharge or discoloration than just let her heal-  it seems to take three weeks or so before it starts looking normal again.  Hang in there.

  3. I8t sounds more like a hernia

  4. Swelling is normal. If the area gets red or puss or is hot, it could be an infection. Usually it takes a week for the area to calm down and begin to heal properly.   If she is eating, drinking, sleeping and her bathroom habits are good, she should be just fine. Just keep an eye out for any signs of infection.  I am so glad you had her spayed. You did the right thing for her because she will be much healthier and happier and her chances of getting cancer are reduced dramatically.

I know it is difficult to see her like this, but within a week or so she will be back to her old self and you will have a happy, healthy cat for many, many years. For now, give her lots of attention, make sure she stays warm and dry and is getting lots of sleep.
