  1. A thrifty and very effective shampoo can be had by using Dawn Dishwash Liquid. Just warm water and a few squirts of Dawn, starting from behind the head and working your way down to the tail...rinsing with warm water and avoiding her face.

Dawn also repels fleas so until you get to the vet and get a prescription of "Revolution" or one of the other behind-the-neck-once-a-month parasiticides you will be in good shape!

  2. What did you do with the fleas?  If you didn't kill them, they'll just hop right back on.  And fleas are really hard to kill.

Sounds like she needs a visit to the vet to make sure all is okay before you get really attached.

  3. Take her to the vet! They can see if anything is wrong her and give her a flea bath! There could be something wrong with her insides, so you need to take her to the vet as soon as you can!

  4. Poor little thing, fleas are a horrible ordeal for any animal, especially a young one. I would consider giving the kitten a soaking. Most cats hate water, so it might not be easy. If you have a wash tub, or something similar, it must be deep enough to fully immerse the kitten, except the nose and mouth. If you lay the kitten down on its back, so that only its nose and mouth are above water, and fully submerge the rest of its body for 1 minute, it should kill off any remaining fleas.

Unfortunately this won't do anything to kill the fleas in your carpet, so please hurry and get the flea/tick medication as soon as possible, while you are at Pet-smart pick up some de-wormer. I would feed your kitten only dry kitten food, and water at least for awhile, this should straighten out her digestive problems. I think once you get rid of the fleas, her stress will be significantly reduced and her diahrrea will clear up.

Sleeping a lot is fairly normal for a cat, but it is also a sign of anemia. With that bad of a flea infestation it wouldn't surprise me if she was anemic. Fleas feed on blood, so if she is ate up bad enough she may be tired due to lack of blood. If her gums are white or very pale instead of bright pink, there is a pretty good chance she is anemic. Killing off the fleas is your priority, pick a method and get it done. At this point going to a vet is a good option for you. They sell age appropriate flea/tick meds, de-wormer, and could diagnose any other health problems your kitten has, and give it the proper treatment.

  5. You need to get her to the vet! They will give you medication for the fleas and there is a great possibility she has intestinal worms  that they can treat immediately. (which would cause diarrhea and vomiting.)

I would suggest you take her tomorrow as small pets become quickly dehydrated from vomiting and diarrhea.

  6. Since kittens are very small, having that many fleas drinking their blood can put their health at risk. Blood loss leads to low red blood counts which may make them anemic. I don't know if the diarrhea and vomiting are linked to anemia, but the combination of the two may easily lead to dehydration. I really think you should take kitten to the vet.

I just adopted 3 feral kittens last week and have just started ridding them of fleas using a flea comb. I got 13 last night. How do you kill your fleas? I drown them in a bowl of soapy water or alcohol. Also, my friend did a lot of research and discovered that Frontline flea treatment is the best for kittens' health. Using a flea comb is fine, but the absolute best is to use a flea medication and use the comb to spot check.

  7. Get her and a stool sample to the vet.  She probably has worms and you'll need to make sure she's old enough to be treated for fleas.  The vet can sell you the right product.  One of the good treatments: Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution (this one will take care of ear mites too) would be best.  The stuff you find in pet stores isn't safe and you'll need to make sure she's healthy enough to have chemicals applied to her.

Although if all the fleas are dead then she shouldn't need chemicals anyway.  Cheers to you for getting rid of the them the safest way!

  8. the flea comb is definitely okay to use and will give it some relief but i would give it a flea bath as soon as possible to fully solve the problem.

the puking and diareah alone i would not be to concerned if it just started because it happens to animals but if it continues i would definitely consult a vet.

  9. Your kitten is eating the fleas and that's how they get worms.  Common.  Call the Vet and ask them what to do.  Kitty is sick from worms, most likely.

  10. You did the right thing by using a flea comb on kitty.  Surely am glad you killed every one of those them (all 50 of them).  Wish you had some flea spray suitable for her. Make sure it's safe for her to swallow, due to her bathing herself (with her tongue).

When you buy Flea Spray, please get plenty for the area she has been sleeping in, as flea larvae will hatch.

Make sure you feed her dry food only while she's having diarrhea. Leave water out at all times for her.  She will know how much she needs to drink.  I leave dry food out for mine all day.  She doesn't over eat. She gets treats 3 times a day, as in Pounce(name brand).  I find this to be better for she and I.

I use treat time, as training time.  She's doing things quickly for treats.  Remembers what? when? and where she was.  A kitty is fun and exciting, plus really sweet.

Please let me know how your kitty's doing.  I really want to know.

It's not your bf's fault your kitty has fleas.  Most kittens born outside this time of year do have fleas.

Take her to your Veterinarian for vaccinations. He'll worm her and give her something for the diarrhea and vomiting.  You want to get this under control ASAP!  It will kill her, if not treated.

    Blessings to you and her<><:)

  11. Its fine to use a plea comb although if she is covered it might do her good if you wash her with a kitten safe anti-flea pet shampoo, this will also help to get rid of fleas and flea dirt.

Then you should definitely get some good quality flea killer that is appropriate for kittens. Get the expensive stuff that stops them coming back for 1 month- this will kill any flea eggs on your kitten and wherever your kitten goes in the future.

How old is kitten and what have you been feeding her?

vomiting and diarrhea sound more like a food intollerance than an actual illness.

She should be eating a good quality kitten food. I usually use loaf wet food for kittens as many have problems with wetter, soggier foods.

Many cats are also fish intollerant which may also make her sick, so stear clear of fish for a while, and try her on them at a later time and see how she goes.
