  1. All you can do is bathe the kitten everyday, and flea comb the kitten right after. I recently had to do this so I am aware of what you are going through. If you dont begin doing this the fleas can take over and eventually slowly kill the kitten because they will take all the vitamins and nutrients from the kitten. So take action quickly This should be over within a week if you do it correctly.

  2. i've been there! we use flea colors because most meds aren't healthy for kittens. it will take a bit longer but it is safer. and cheaper!

  3. Use just a small dab of Frontline on the back of the neck. I wouldn't use a lot since it is a kitten. Frontline works wonders.

  4. You'll have to continue care for at least 6 weeks.  First, take the kitten to a vet or groomer for a flea dip bath and a treatment of Advantage.  You have to treat the house while the kitten is gone.  Flea powder worked for me - but you have to follow all this up (minus the Advantage) every 10-14 days until the fleas are gone.  You have to treat any areas the cat has been in, carpets-beds-pet beds-clothes-anything the flea eggs could be in.  The eggs have a 10-14 gestational period, and fleas can lay eggs within minutes of hatching.  It's going to be hard - but it can be done.  For now on, keep kitty in the house and you lessen your chances of re-infestation. Good luck.

  5. As most people know, when you have cats you face the possibility of also having fleas. There are few pests worse than fleas, who almost microscopic in size and hard to banish. If you want to know how to get rid of fleas on cats, without getting rids of your cats, then keep reading.

If you need to know how to get rid of fleas on cats, then you already have a flea problem. Remember, getting rid of the fleas on your cats isn't enough - you'll have to free the entire house of fleas in order to keep them away from your cats for good. Getting rid of fleas can be a somewhat tedious process, so be ready to do some work to get rid of fleas.

Though there are many pet products you can buy for over-the-counter use, if you want to know how to get rid of fleas on cats you want to take them to the vet's office. Let the professionals treat your cats and have them keep your cats overnight. Though this separation will be painful, it's necessary so that you can prepare your home for the arrival of flea-free house cats. The vet's office will apply special medicine to your cats that will not only kill existing fleas, but keep future fleas from being attracted to them.

If you want to know how to get rid of fleas on cats, the first rule is don't try to do it alone. You need the cats removed from your home to be properly treated for fleas - otherwise, you're fighting a losing battle. Take the cats to the professionals, and then you can focus on getting fleas out of your home.

In addition to using a flea bomb (be sure to follow the directions exactly), you want to shampoo all the fabrics in your home. This means carpeting, curtains, bedding, upholstery, and especially areas where the cats sleep and play. Ridding your home of fleas is how to get rid of fleas on cats so that they will not come back. Removing fleas from cats is not enough - you must also remove fleas from your home to keep your pets safe.

  6. Do not bathe your kitten every day. This will cause skin irritations. However, try the Dawn again. Leave it on and rub it in very well. Pick through your kitten with a flea comb. Apply Frontline or Advantage. Ask your vet for a Capstar pill which will kill all fleas on your kitten within 30 minutes. It sounds like you might have an environment problem. Vacuum the heck out of the carpet & upholstery, clean bedding, anything you can do to eliminate fleas in the house.

  7. No matter how old the cat is, if it's over 1 pound it's old enough for Advantage. My vet put a tube of Advantage on my 6 month old kitten, and my friend's vet put some on her new kitten when it was even younger. My kitten weighed 1.9 pounds when he got Advantage, and he didn't seem to be affected at all except that his fleas were gone overnight.  It's worth the cost. He's now 3 months old, healthy, and still flea-free because he's an indoor-only cat.

  8. Brewer's yeast or garlic are old remedies

  9. if shes under two month u cant put flea medicine on her. that soap is not good for cats nor kittens nor any kind of animal is has harsh chemicals in it which isnt good for the animal. get flea drops. like frontline. cheaper ones arnt water proof and dont work as well. u get what you pay for basickly so the more you spend the better it will be.

flea colors dont work thwey only protect the head and you will have to check her for heart worms and other viruses or diseases since she is so young and can get sick easily. if you dont take her to the vet and she has heart worms or any other kind of worms or disesaes she can die.

  10. Use Advantage.  You can also use Flea & Tick Spray by Zodiac, it works wonders!

  11. I bought a couple of combs for headlice--they have finer teeth than the ones they sell for cats.  Make a dish of water with a little soap in it, and comb the fleas off of the kitten-you have to get the fleas into the dish quickly and make sure they drown.  It's best if the combs are just damp so the kitten doesn't get soggy.  This will help until the kitten is old enough for flea meds from the vet.

  12. You need a flea product that is marked that it is formulated for kittens--if it just says cats and doesn't mention kittens it could be too strong and poison your kitten. How old is it by the way?

Flea powder works. Haven't tried the sprays.

There are flea baths formulated for kittens, but the fleas may jump off their head.

Once you have the majority, get and use a flea comb on your kitty regularly. The fleas get caught in the fine teeth. Rinse the comb and fleas  in warm water with liquid dish detergent in it to kill those fleas. Once the vet says your kitten is old enough use one of the monthly products such as "Advantage". "Advantage" is safe for kittens at least 8 weeks old and weighing at least 9 pounds.

  13. Go to a shop and get some flea shampoo and some advantage, it's a little tube you squeeze onto the back of the kitten's neck. Do it as soon as possible because fleas can be quite distressing to a little kitten.
