  1. visit the rspca website  http://www.rspca.org.uk

you can enter your details and find out the nearest clinic.

There are also some other animal charities you can try.

Blue Cross and any nearby universities with veterinary courses and facilities.

As for costs, of course the RSPCA is the cheapest around. Upto 70% cheaper than other profit veterinary surgeries.

If your mum us on income support or can prove that she has a low income then she will be entitled to subsidised treatment.

Also, many vets will not turn an injured animal away for cost reasons as they genuinely care about animals!

Try looking up your local vets on http://www.yell.com and ring them up for a quote for an x-ray.

It may also be a good idea to get pet insurance for your kitty. Most companies can offer insurance for around £6 a month, and that way when you visit the vet the most you will ever pay (depending on your policy) would be something like £50. It may seem extravagant but it ensures that you never have to worry about your kitten being sick and being able to afford it.

Hope your little kitten gets better soon.

  2. Your best chance for an accurate answer is to call the place you're planning to take the cat. Limping doesn't necessarily mean a broken bone. There could be something in or on the cats paw causing the limp. Have you looked at her foot yet? If not, try to. If touching the paw causes her pain do not continue to look, just wait for the vet to look at her. If there IS something in the paw (splinter, needle or anything other sharp object) try to remove it gently then wash the paw carefully with a mild soap and water and see if she is still limping. If it's a long claw digging into the pad do not try to trim it. Let a vet handle that. If there are no visible signs of injury it could just be a sprain but again only a vet can determine that. I'm in the US and a normal vet visit (without meds or other tests) usually costs me $40.
