My kitten is potty-trained, but...?

My kitten has been potty trained since she was 6 weeks old, she's 11 months now. Recently, though, she's been leaving little "poopsies" around the house, mostly just around my room. What's going on?

We don't have a vet, and we can't get one...so don't suggest any medical help.

  1. HI - cause is either medical or psychological:

If medical take her to the vet - sorry, but youcant rule this out.

If psychological - have you changed something? Even something insignificant to us - like the litter, the place where it is, her food, where her bed is, brought a new person into the family?

OR - Pooing in a different place can be the cat's way of communicating - is she hungry, angry, insecure, upset, distressed?

Try rewarding her when you find poo in the litter and letting her see you place the poo back in the litter tray.

  2. Check the litterbox.  When cats arent happy with the cleanliness or smell of the litterbox, they will go elsewhere and usually it's the area where the person they like the most resides.

So try changing the brand of cat litter or adding baking soda to see if that helps.

  3. She could be trying to makr your room if thats they only place she is pooping in as her territory.

  4. Usually, they do that if the litter box or something near it is quite smelly. It can also be a serious case of parasites in the bowls. You can get a drug for that in a regular pharmacy (for humans, I mean).

  5. Try cleaning her litter box more often I have a cat who does that as well its nothing medical its just her saying to you

"Hey there is to much p**p in my toilet clean it out" so therefore she poops around your room

  6. add baking soda in her litter
