I have an eight week old kitten and she's not feeling well at all. Yesterday morning I woke up to get ready for work and I found a small pile of vomit, and she's eating and drinking, but when she meows it's real raspy sounding. Also, when I go to pick her up she gets mad, and meows because I think it hurts to hold her around her ribcage, and i called a vet but none of them could help me at the time, any clue to what it could be anyone?

  1. She could have a uti.  You really need to get her to the vet.  She could have worms too.  Good luck!

  2. My first question would be why would the vet make that assumption without seeing the kitten? If they didn't even do an exam, then you need to find another vet - and soon.  That is not normal behavior for a kitten.  Check all your plugs and wires to make sure the kitten hasn't been snacking on them, or on any plants.  Most household plants are poisonous to cats, and they love to munch on greens.  Get her to a vet that cares asap.

  3. vet cant help you? they cant treat over the phone, if that is what you mean.

bring her in for an exam, they will help you.

vomit is normal, raspy meow and pain is not.

i would guess a flu like infection of the lungs.

  4. you should really take her to a vet who can help you its posible shes hurt her ribs it could be serious

  5. Im sorry, but it could be anything! arthitis to growing pains, or she may be pregnant!?

  6. It's possible she swallowed something she shouldn't have. If she has vomited more than that one time you need to bring her to the vet. Sometimes kittens at that age eat too quickly and wind up vomiting because cats don't chew dry food very well. Try to watch her when she's eating and if she seems to be wolfing down her food feed her smaller portions or remove the food briefly until she calms down. The raspiness could have been caused by the vomiting. But I do still recommend calling the vet if she vomited more than once.

On a side not, to delbonis, who suggested the kitten might be pregnant, please read questions completely.....an 8 week old kitten can't get pregnant.....
