Question:

My kitten might be sick

when i first got my kitten it was with his brother and they had both just gotten everything they needed at the vet. for the first couple days i noticed that one of the cats eye was leaking a little bit and i looked it up and it said that it could have been allergies. so i waited a couple days and it went away and everything was fine for about 2 months. but now recently its eye is leaking again along with its nose and it keeps sneezing. i just got them flea collars and it said that the flea collars might cause head cold but the other cat is perfectly fine and the other has been like this for about two days now. does anyone know what the problem might be or should i go to the vet and get her checked out again.

  1. It could be allergies that's causing him problems, but it could also be an upper respiratory infection causing him to sneeze and have runny eyes and nose.

To find out what exactly is causing this you must take your kitten to a vet so that he can give him afull medical check up and prescribe the relevant medication from there. Leaving a kitten without treatment for either allergies or uti's could damage his eyesight and nasal passages and in some cases kittens can die from uti complications if left untreated.

For uti's antibiotics will need to be prescribed ( has your kitten been vaccinated  for the major cat diseases....worth making sure I think) and for some allergies prednisone or an antihistamine is prescribed. Either way, only a vet will be able to give you the right prognosis and the adequate medication.

The sooner you get your kitty to the vet the better.

    All the best.

  2. ok she probaly has a head hold the eye leaking thing is normal my cats do it too but the nose running is the sighn of the head cold take it to a vet and have them give you some med.

  3. Your kitten probably has an URI.  It could be a reaction to the shot that he got at the vet, depending on if it was a killed or modified live vaccine.  You need to take it to the vet and get some antibiotics for it.
