Question:

My kitten sucks her tail?

I know that it means she was probably taken away from her mother to early and misses her. I was just wondering when she will stop, if it is bad for her to do it in any way and if we should encourage her not to.

  1. I think you have already answered yourself,,she probably was not ready to be weaned, mine was removed from her mother to soon, she is 13 weeks and is just now coming out of it..when she was doing it, i would hold her and snuggle her,,it seems to soothe her and she eventually stopped doing it on her own.

  2. I had a kitten once that did that. There really isn't much you can do about it besides constantly keeping a eye on it and removing it when ever it does that. The kitten should eventually grow out of it in time. The only harm that could come from it is if the kitten is sucking the hair off it's tail, then it could develop hair balls and start coughing them up.
