  1. cat food has more protein in it than dog food.  once the kitty gets hungry enough, he will eat.  try some yummy wet food.  maybe merrick brand.  if doesn't start eating and he starts losing weight, TAKE HIM TO THE VET.  there may be something wrong.

also, is your pup free fed?  that is not good for a dog.  they have a tendency to over eat.  it is actually really good to put him on a schedule.  feed the pup and the kitten at the same time in different rooms.  give them each about 15 minutes to eat.  if they don't, too bad.  better luck with the next meal. you can convince a dog to eat turnips if there is nothing else to eat.  patience.

    good luck.....

  2. no it is not okay, kittens have specific nutrition requirements that are different than puppies.  they are strictly carnivorous animals and need a lot of crude protein. they should not eat adult cat food either, get wet canned food for kittens, and then switch to dry kitten food, and then consult with your vet for the best customized diet as your kitten reaches 1 1/2 yrs of age.

  3. Yes it will hurt him.  Dog food is formulated TOTALLY differently than cat food, they do not have the same nutritional needs.  You need to stop feeding him that.

  4. It's ok for dogs to eat cat food but not for cats to eat dog food,The dog food won't cause any harm to your kitty, it just isn't as nutritious as cat food.If you really want to keep the food separate, I would feed the dogs in a room that you can close off from the kitten. Put down the dog food and then pick it up in 15 to 20 minutes. This way it isn't available for the kitten to get into and it will have no choice but to eat it's own food.

  5. Hills science diet sells food that is made for cats and dogs, it'll say canine/feline on the can, it usually comes in wet food. Maybe that'll help it wean into cat food.  you should look into it. we give it to our animals at work sometimes

  6. It won't hurt him, per say.  Cats require an amino acid that is not included in dog food.  You will need to encourage him to eat cat food.  Did you try canned food?

  7. A very big difference between dogs and cats nutritional needs is that cats must have a product called Taurine to survive. Dogs do too, but while the dog's body produced taurine on its own, cats do not. Putting a cat on dog food will only cause health issues. Not only does dog food not contain taurine, but it has far less protein and calories. Cats are true carnivores, so their nutritional needs are very different than an omnivore such as the dog.

  8. It will hurt the kitten

  9. Yes, it will hurt the kitten. Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that they need meat. Dogs are omnivores and do not have the same nutritional needs as cats. Cats and dogs often try to eat each other's foods. Cats enjoy the grains and carbs in dog food and dogs enjoy the fat and protein in cat food. Try putting the kitten in a separate room with canned kitten food 3 -4 times per day.

  10. no,

it has to eat kitten food because it wont get the vitamins and stuff it really needs in puppy food

  11. Sometimes people should use their common scene.

It says "kitten" and "puppy" food on the bag for a reason.

Each formula is created to give the animal specific ingredients that that animal needs in their daily diet.

If it were meant for your kitten to eat it , it would say "puppy and kitten food"
