Question:

My kitten won't eat...?

Hey everyone.

I got my kitten yesterday, but since he's been here he hasn't eaten anything. We're trying to feed him Whiskas Kitten, and we've tried two different flavours but he won't eat either. I've fed him three cat treats, which he's happily eaten, and he's drank some water and some cat milk. He has used his litter tray, but he won't eat!

His past-owner said that he especially liked IAMS dry food, but if I just feed him dry food, will he get sick?

And until I get him some food, can I give him some tuna? He's three months old, so I don't know if he can eat tuna or not but I think he's hungry...

Thankyou muchly people :) x

  1. give him a little bit of tuna but noit to much now

your kittwen might not be hungry

make sure you put water in the whiskas kitten pouch and make the pieces adiable

he can't just eat human food you have got to teach him don't always give him dry food because kittens need a variety, givehim a treat and then mix it in with his food or put some tuna in his food and mix it

  2. For now it is best to give him some dry food and water. Because you want the kitten to eat.

I highly recommend, take him to a pet doctor. You really don't want  to take risks with kittens. It is very hard to tell if they are sick or just not in the mood.

  3. Hello, funny that he will have cat treats, milk/water and used litter tray. Do Iams do pouches try them and then gradually get him into dry food. Just because you feed him dry food, i dont think he will get sick. x

  4. Ok give him the dry food he will eat then at every meal add a very small amount of wet food in the middle of the dry food add a little more every meal soon he will be comfortable eat wet food and yes cats can get sick from only dry food. Tuna is ok i think. For my money though its because he prefers human food and when he meows he wants human food his owners must have trained him that by giving him human food when he meowed. NEVER give the cat human food take him off the table point at him and say no in a forceful but not that mean of a voice or he will be to frightened.

  5. Hey, I had the same problem. I tried baby food. Try getting the turkey or chicken (Plain) and see if there is improvement...like with-in 24 hours. Otherwise, seek medical attention for your Kitten. Eventually you can slowly mix the baby-food with his kitten food. Make sure you don't give him milk. That can give them runny bowels and make him dehydrated. Have lots of water available. (my Mom's advice to me..she was a vet tech.)
