I have a 5 month old kitten that was abandoned by her mother. She will poo in her litter box but she will also poo in my basement and in my brother and sister's rooms, what can I do to make her stop?

  1. Take the poo from the other area and put it in the litter box (uncovered) and put her in there.

Clean ALL SPOTS outside the box with alchohol.. this will remove the scent.

Watch her when she seems like she is looking for a spot to pee/poo take her to the litter box.

MAKE SURE THE LITTER BOX IS CLEAN... they won't use a dirty box any more than you want to use a dirty toilet.

    good luck >^..^<

  2. Put the Poo in the Litter Box...and then put her in there and try to show her to dig. You may need to switch litters too. My Cat would not potty in cheap litter!!

  3. confine the kitten to a smaller area of the house. put its food, water, and litter all in one room or a larger crate, until she is using the box without fail. Let her out of the crate when you are there, but keep an eye on her and if she shows signs of needing to eliminate, put her in the crate. Cats naturally want to dig an bury, so as long as the box is clean the cat should use it. After a while you won't need the crate, or have to keep it in one room. But give it a try for now.
