The mother bites them around the front of the neck until they scream and then she might let go if not i have to pull her off them! This doesn't seem right to me but i am not sure. What should i do?

  1. This is Mom Cats way of teaching the kittens.  She is telling them No to something that might not have been visible to you.  There have been reports of The kittens being killed in this way but I have never seen it. She is holding on to them until she is sure they have learned the lesson.

  2. erm i have 3 week old kittys and havent seen mum do this!

Sometimes she bites hard when washing them and makes them squeel...and she has considered carrying them which involves a hard bite round the back of the neck=- maybe your mum cat has got confused? have you seen her carry them by the neck?

  3. I would ask the vet for advice, the mum may not be intending to kill the kitten but during these early days keep a close eye on them as long as the mum is feeding them well thats a good sign that she loves her kittens she is probably just being a bit heavy handed with washing &

    disciplining them.
