Question:

My kittens have a problem?

I got two kittens just last month! They are so adorable and funny! They play around all the time and are happy-looking/acting. BUT... they have stomach issues or something. We thought that perhaps it was the food, but we switched to a special brand for kittens that's supposed to help, but it didn't. Now, I recently had a cat that died from feline leukemia, or, more like, the intestinal infection he had and the weakness of his immune system from the leukemia. I'm not so sure there isn't something in this house that is causes all of my cats to get sick. I love these cats to little pieces, but I was wondering perhaps... is there anything that would cause intestinal issues in cats that I could somehow fix? Once I get enough money, I will be taking them to the vet. But I'm trying to see if that isn't neccessary, because it costs so much and I have so little. One throws up, and the other has very irregular (and stinky) bowel movements. Just this morning he had a movement that had puss and blood and that's why I'm asking! What can I do to keep them okay until I have enough to get them to the vet!

Sorry about the vulgarity, but I want to be specific.

Thanks so much!

  1. Worms can cause bloody pussey diarrhea and vomiting. Worms can also be deadly if left untreated or treated improperly.

They need to see the vet.

  2. When blood starts coming out, that's when you need to take them to a vet.  It's no longer a possibility of being a necessity, it is one.  Sometimes vets can work out payment plans with you.  Don't wait any longer!

  3. I agree with the first person, it is time for the vet.  I know firsthand that vets can be expensive, but I also know that many good vets are willing to work out payment plans, they want to help and don't want to see pets suffer because of money issues.  Besides possibly having an illness, your kittens could have worms, which definitely will cause stomach and bowel problems.  Only a vet can tell for sure if they have them, by examining stool samples under a microscope.   Please do not use any over the counter meds of any kind, including worm meds - they are unregulated and VERY dangerous, especially to young kittens and puppies, and if they already are ill and weak, then that doubles the danger.  Please try talking to some vets and see what can be worked out.  You may be pleasantly surprised, and relieved to get some help.  Good luck to you and your kitties!
