we recently saved the kitten and all of its whiskers seem to be cut off. He is very little, he shakes and is always very scared i am not sure if this is a side affect of the whiskers being cut off, how soon will they grow back

  1. Bless him! He sounds adorable and good for you on giving a needy baby cat a good forever home.

In answer to your question, yes, his whiskers will grow back, but it will take a few months for them to get to full length again.

I've seen some kittens with their whiskers trimmed and it's usually their mum cat who's done this. It's a way of mum being able to control a wayward little sprite of hers to stop him/her from roaming too far from her while they are suckling. As, whiskers are an important factor to a cat being more spacially aware of it's surroundings, so clipping his whiskers was the only alternative for his mum to keep him close and safe :)

He'll soon come round to trusting you once he realises that you are the one that gives him lots of warm cuddles and nice food.

It would be a good idea to get him vet checked to make sure he's healthy and give you advice on worming and flea treatment and vaccinations to keep him healthy from the major feline diseases.

All the best and good luck with your new baby kitty.

  2. they will grow bk eventually might take up to 3 months for this to happen they have whiskers to help them judge gaps so they know if they will fit into the spaces they want to get in to hope this helps u out

  3. Make sure that someone is always with that kitten it sounds like its been abused but back to the question itll grow back in a few months

(give your kitten goats milk it makes him/her healthier)

  4. Yes they will grow back, but it will take a while. Good on you for rescuing the kitten, sound like it might have had a rough time.

Keep lifting it up and cuddle it a lot, even if it seems scared at first. But only for short periods at a time, as soon as it starts wiggling let it down again. Do this at least 10 times a day. This will help make it used to being touched and handled and will help it bond with you.

  5. months

  6. Yes they should grow back,it might tack a while though and it was quite a stupid thing for you to have done.
