My kitty is so sick and the vet can't figure out what's wrong. She hasn't eaten in three days, has diarrhea.

The vat had run so many tests, xrays, ultrasound, blood work, urine culture... Has anyone ever had a cat with a similar situation? She is only a year old.

  1. I had a dog with those symptoms when he was a puppy.  He ended up being treated for a stomach infection.  They gave him antibiotics and medication to help decrease stomach acid.  The vet instructed me to feed him boiled chicken and rice or a low residue dog food.  I had to syringe feed him for about three to four days, and hand feed him for several more day but he is fine know.  They did blood test, and xrays checking for problems but found nothing.

  2. I would take your cat to another vet for a different opinion.  It doesn't seem like your vet is very good or just inexperienced.  Other than that, I don't have any advice about your kitty.  Sorry, hope you can get something figured out.

  3. I'm sorry.  This may be useless or unhealthy, but our girl stopped eating for about 3 days once too.  We offered her all kinds of stuff - baby food (plain chicken), different kinds of cat food, cooked chicken... nothing.  Finally we offered her some raw (previously frozen) salmon and she ate it immediately.  We gave her a decent amount then and kept giving her lots of little meals of it and within a couple days she was eating cat food again.  I don't know what started it and nothing ever actually seemed to be wrong with her, apart from not eating.

If the vets can't come up with anything then dragging her to more may increase her stress and make her feel even worse.  I'd suggest getting several kinds of bland meat and offering them to her, preferably raw (her digestive system is much tougher than ours so raw meat is generally healthier).  Try one and if she won't eat it then remove it and wait awhile then offer another.  Try not to act stressed out about it, she'll pick up on that and possibly feel worse.  It may be that there isn't anything seriously wrong with her.  Maybe something was wrong with her food so she's nervous about eating in general.  If you have other cats and they're fine then that can help you rule out possibilities.

I don't know and I'm not an expert so don't avoid finding other vets on my advice, it's just a possibility.
