Question:

My kittycat is acting different than normal?

Aside from sneezing bloody snot;

He used to follow me EVERYWHERE, now he just sits there and waits from me to come back.

He used to put his front paws on my knees when I ignored him, now he just lays by my feet.

He used to catch a million bunnies and birds, and this year he has only caught a mouse.

Last year he wasn't being so weird, I found him six years ago sitting on the patio chair (after Toby died). And when we took him to the vet they said he was between the ages of 8-12, but that was six years ago. And now he is just lazy and likes to be carried a lot more than he used to.

Is he just getting old or is his sneezing making him act weird?

The vet said that he might be sneezing because of a brain tumor and other stuff. Does Danser's behavior this year mean that he might pass away soon? :[

  1. Sadly, yes. As cats get older they start getting lazy and having weird symptoms. If he stops eating then that's really bad and you need to take him to the vet. I am sorry to hear about Danser.

  2. I don't know many vets that would give you a diagnosis like that.  Did he x-ray your cat to see if it did in fact have a brain tumor?  There is a very strong chance that the cat has a sinus infection...or respitory infection.

    Did the vet not offer some antibiotics to try and clear the "bloody snot up"?

    Might not hurt to get a second opinion from another vet.

    Obviously he's not feeling well; if you want him to get better take him to a vet who will try harder to help him.

  3. Not really, a lot of cats get really lazy in their older years. It's normal, it's kind of like an old person, after a while their bodies just wear down. He should be fine. If he's 18 then he's probably all tuckered out, haa.

  4. I agree with "Dances... "    I

    And it really could be so many things.  But a bloody nasal discharge when he sneezes is not nice....   I also would take him for a second opinion.  This is probably going to get worse and wouldn't you want him to be comfy while he is with you.  It sounds as if you love him a lot and have been through some very beautiful times together.   Just by the memories you shared with us, we all know this is true.

    I would get the sinus xrays and see what you are dealing with.

    ~18yrs old, wow - nice job...   :)
