Ok so I am 13 years old and pretty active.

I'm a bit short so I only weigh about 95 pounds.

If I walk for a while, my knee seriously starts to POUND. I have to limp and people are like, are you ok?

And WHENEVER I am running I limp. Seriously, even if its just a little, I still limp.

What is wrong with my knees?

My dad said our family has a history with bad knees, but like I am really healthy active and young, so could my knees be hurting already?

It ticks me off cause when I'm playing outside or something like tag, I have to sit out for a bit to let my knees rest.

LIKE WTH.

Stupid knees. >__>

Anyway, you know whats wrong with them?

  1. Do you  visit your pediatrician regularly? At your last exam were your knees and joints examined?  Whatever is going on with your knees is not normal for a healthy, active 13 year old. Get your parent to take you in for an appointment with your doctor- xrays and lab work need to be done to make sure your are not developing arthritis or another muscular skeletal disorder.

  2. do you ever fall on them really hard? if you did maybe you should go see your doctor and get an x-ray.

  3. ur growing

  4. well since your 13, it could be growing pains.

or you could have water on your knee ( that hurts like  a bi t c h )

other then that, i'm not sure, you should ask a doctor.

maybe its just hereditary, like your dad said.

    hope i helped.

  5. nutritional deficiency. Are you getting enough magnesium, calcium, and potassium in your diet? Your muscles require several minerals for proper function, a deficiency in those minerals can present with muscle twitching/spasm during night time. Eat some bananas, nuts, and diary products.

If you still have the problems after a week, consult with your doctor

  6. Do they make any weird creaking or crunching noises (when u walk up stairs n stuff?) My sister in law has had a condition called Schlatter's disease since she was about your age. Check out the link in sources x

  7. you popped your kneecaps, it happens all the time, heals after a day or two.

stop playing running sports for 2 days, it should get better.

  8. That happens to me to! My problem is that the mussel behind my kneecap is not big enough to hold my actual kneecap in place. i have to go to physio therapy and do excersies to strengthen my knee!

  9. I say you just work it too hard or it is genetics

  10. Have You Ever Dislocated Your Knees Slightly..Lyk the Kneecap Has Fallen Out Of place? And Has Gone Back In?

I've Dislocated Both Of My Knees And I Can't Run ..And if I Try I Limp And When ive Walked For A Long Time i Limp As Well Cus They Ache

I Just Like To Get Home And Get Them Massarged..

  11. there is a chance you have patella-femoral misalignment.

its also known as patella-femoral pain syndrome.

    i have it... i am 13 also.

    its very common.

and all the doctors do is give you orthodics.

and if you dont know... those are shoe inserts that are specially made to fix your problem.

    which work wonders.!

hope this helps.... go to a foot doctor too!

  12. see a doctor

  13. try moving it more and jump and crouch down and do whatever it takes to make it warmer or c a doctor.......
