My knee started 'clicking'?

My knee started 'clicking' when I bend it. I let my dad feel it click and he's worried and he said he'll call the hospital tomorrow, but I'm nervous. What might it be? I never injured it. It's just when I bend it, it makes that clicking sound and you can feel it kind of shift. It's on the kneecap

  2. You can fix this with your knee, shoulder or other joints by ROTATING - do small circles which will bring more JOINT FLUID to the joint -in this case, do small circles by sitting on a chair, pull your knee up so your foot does not touch the ground, and swing the bottom part of your leg in small circles.

There is likely nothing wrong with you, your joints are just stiff. This happens to people all the time.

  3. does it hurt? if there is no pain involved with the clicking, its likely what they call crepitance, which is a medical term used to describe the popping you experience when you move a joint. If the popping is accompanied by mechanical symptoms such as your knee locking up or catching and pain along the knee joint, it is likely a meniscus tear. The meniscus is a shock absorber that is triangular in shape that sits between your femur and tibia (lower leg). If its just crepitance, there is not real need to worry, everyone has it to some degree. If it is a meniscus tear, this may require surgery to fix, depending on the severity, which can be assessed with an MRI.
