I have lived in my house for five months now and I don't think he has any business looking at my account. How should I deal with this, he obviously is sneaky and misused my personal information from rental application. What should I do?

  1. he cant do that so i think the you should file a compliant or call the authority's

  2. hit him in the face!!!!!!!

........or file a formal complaint..........if he is a private renter i would say is there a reason you are checking my account? ive been paying my rent in a timely fashion...there is no reason you need to be checking my account.............how did he get access????????? through the internet??????????

  3. He can't possibly check your bank account.

There are laws that say only you can look at your bank account.  The information that's on your rental application should not, in any way, shape, or form, be enough to get him access to your account.  Even with your date of birth, ssn, all of that, if he's not a signatory on the account, it should be impossible for him to get any info.

I would ask your landlord for a little more detail on what he says he checked into...If he has any info about your bank account that he could ONLY get by actually looking into your records, then you need to talk to your bank right away.

Your landlord may have checked your credit rating, as is fairly standard with rental tenants, and used the wrong set of words when he brought it up with you.

You should probably also consider getting a new bank account.

  4. Ask your bank to verify the information.  They should have records of everyone who has checked records on  you.  Someone at the bank should also be able to tell you if the way the landlord did the check is legal.

I suspect, but don't know for sure, that what he did is wrong.  The bank is NOT going to be happy with this guy.

But you're opening a can of worms.  Do you want a feud with this guy?  Whatever is going on, getting law enforcement involved isn't going to make your situation better.

You could tell your bank that you want to know whenever someone accesses your records, then tell your landlord if he does it again, you'll file a complaint.

And make sure you pay your rent on time.

  5. Your best choice is to tell the cops
