Ok, i live where i get water from a well. The pipe has a small leak in it and is not really that big of deal. i got two kids in the house and its been turned off for over 24 hours. So, how can it be turned off before I go out there and turn the valve on myself? Whats the legal aspect o fit?

  1. There is no legal aspect.   It has to be turned off to fix.

If you turn it on mid fix and damage the pipes you will be responsible for it.

Why not call her up and ask when the plumber intends to finish?

  2. If the water is off only for short term to address the leak it's not illegal. If it is in reaction to your failure to pay rent it is illegal.

My advice to you? Pay your rent. My advice to your landlord? Turn the water back on and evict this deadbeat legally.

  3. I suggest u call your local code enforcement office. I don't believe it is legal. Also since water is included in your rent you may not have to pay it until they get it fixed.

  4. you have to give the landlord time to repair it.  if he is not trying to repair the leak than you have to ask him to give you water.  i was without water for 2 weeks one time due to power outage. i had no one to complain to.

  5. I have questions for you.   Did she advise you that she was going to turn off the water for repairs, etc?  If you haven't already, ask her what the deal is.
