My landlord got a debt validation letter from a recontrust company...what does this mean? Is he behind on his mortgage? What does this mean for me and my family? How do I find out what is going on?

  1. Ask your landlord.  Or keep an eye or the foreclosure sales.  There isn't anywhere you can check to see if the landlord is paying the mortgage or not.

If the mortgage company does foreclose, you may be able to rent the place from the mortgage company or you may have to move immediately.  If you think your landlord is in financial difficulty, you may want to start cleaning out closets and drawers just in case you have to move.
