My laptop broke because a few drops of water drpped on the screen can someone explain how this happened?

Did you drop the water on it or did someone tell you this story? Does't seem plausible that a few drops of water on an LCD will cause it to malfunction.

If the water was on the front plastic, I highly doubt it would ruin your laptop. The only thing I can think of is if the water also hit some components either by leaking inside the monitor's case or seeping through the keyboard.

In short: It could have been a coincidence or, if you were told this is why your laptop broke, the person could be falsifying information.
