My laptop gets really hot after 20 min, no dust is blocking the vents...?

The underside and mousepad of my HP Pavilion dv9623cl gets burning hot after only about 20 minutes. It's around the center area underneath, not the battery, that is hot. This started happening only three days ago. I have given it plenty of ventilation area underneath.

PS: I've had this thing for about 7 months.

  1. There's probably a lot of dust inside the computer (or the fan might have failed, although a fan failure should cause it to overheat a lot quicker).

Send it in to HP for repair, if it's 7 months old it should still be under warranty.

  2. could just be your harddrive.. have you installed any new upkeeping programs or antiviruses lately? (something that would make your hard drive go nutz) ?

have you tried the system without the battery plugged it?

how about with just the battery plugged in.

what are you doing on the computer for those 20 minutes?

  3. That is common. The heat produced depends on your environment.

Better use ur laptop in better ventilated area

  4. i have the hp pavilion-dv9000 it dose the same thing. i shipped it back to their adress and they fixed it. My fan was broken for my graphics

card and the fan pushing the air out of my labtop.

if you dont want better ventilation just go to an computer store and buy an extra internal fan and they install it in for a price =D

  5. It ought to be under warranty. I suspect the fan isn't running properly. I would say off to the repair people before it makes fish and chips of the processor and mother board.

Sorry to give bad bodings of future but I completely fried my Compaq a time back.
