My laptop has integrated wireless. i cannot connect to the internet no networks found.?

my router is linksys. laptop toshiba [vista] desktop gateway{windows 98] have always had trouble with wireless connection but was always able to manually connect.now no networks can be found. i have been in control panel, try to diagnose and it says local area connection cable unplugged. tried shutting off wireless,reset button on router, unplugging everything. nothing has worked . whats the problem? more importantly how do i fix?

  2. make sure that the wireless connection is enabled on computer (not disabled). If that doesn't work, then get it to a computer shop, they probably have to help you install something back into the computer

  3. first, there might be a button somewhere on the laptop that turns off the wireless that you might have accidentally pressed. sometimes its not a button but a combination of the function "FN" key next to the space bar and one of the "F" number keys on the top of the keyboard. usually the function key will have a different color that matches the color of icons on the F-number keys. the wireless usually looks like an antenna with waves coming out of it. try that. if that doesn't work your card could have gone bad and you might just need a new one. since your computer is older, it maybe hard to find a compatible one.
