My laptop has suddenly stopped making any sounds.. please help?

my laptop worked fine yesterday and up until then, but since i turned it on this morning there is no sound, i have checked and the volume is on full and it is not on mute (headphones aren't producing any volume either). How do i fix it???

please help!!!

try looking on control pannel, you may have accidently changed some of the sound and power settings.

This happened to me aswell and it was bad news.

It can be one of 3 things.

1. The sound driver has been uninstalled

2. The connection on the motherboard running through the audio jack and to the speakers messed

3. The speakers are broken.

Try reinstalling the sound driver (should be a CD which came with the laptop, and if this doesn't work then it could be either or the last 2 remaining.

However if the speakers were broken, the audio jack would still play sound if headphones of portable speakers were inserted.

So it it most probably a fault with the motherboard. This is was it was for me, my laptop would produe no sound what so ever.

Dell very nicely replaced my motherboard free of charge and it worked again. Contact you manufacturer for technical support, and if the laptops still under warranty they'll investigate

Have you gone into Control Panel / sounds and checked it's not on mute ?

Are laptop does that sum times also! Try sum speakers! that's all we do :)

ok you need to make your laptop brand new again.

what you have to do is start up the comp and keep tapping f8 or f10

i think for most laptops anyway mine is f8. you need to do a full destructive recovery its that option or it will say reinstall Windows vista

they do the same thing just some say different
